Cemetery Questions

Cemetery Questions

ALL information we currently have regarding the cemetery and those buried within can be found on the cemetery page. This website is a work in progress and we are continually adding new information. If what you seek is not yet on the cemetery page, please visit again at a later date.

You can be notified of new additions by subscribing our update blog or Facebook page. Links to both are located at the top and bottom of every page of the website.

CanadaGenWeb’s Cemetery Project is a volunteer genealogy project, we are not representatives of the cemetery and cannot respond to enquiries that should be directed to the cemetery board, caretaker, a funeral home or monument company

🍁 I need an e-mail or phone number for the caretaker of the cemetery
If known it will be provided on the cemetery page. If not, you will need to use Canada 411 or Google to find contact information. Alternately, try a funeral home near the cemetery and/or the municipal office where the cemetery is located (use Google for this as well).

🍁 I purchased, or want to purchase, a burial plot in the cemetery and need assistance
You will need to contact the cemetery or a local funeral home. Use Canada 411 or Google to find contact information.

🍁 Where is the cemetery located?
If the exact location of the cemetery is known you will see an address or GPS on the cemetery page. If neither is provided, we currently do not know the exact location of the cemetery.

🍁 I need directions to the cemetery
If the exact location of the cemetery is known you may see directions, an address, or GPS coordinates on the cemetery page (hit the back button to see the cemetery page). With that information you can use Google Maps, Bing Maps or similar services to create directions.

🍁 When is decoration day / annual memorial service?
If known, the information will be posted on the cemetery page.

🍁 What is the history of the cemetery?
Everything we currently know about the cemetery is on the cemetery page. If known, the information will be posted on the cemetery page in the NOTES area.

As our focus is on the cemetery itself, church histories are only included if they provide information or context for the cemetery. We do not have more information than what is provided on the cemetery page.

🍁 How do I request maintenance of a headstone or the cemetery?
We do not own or maintain any cemeteries. If you have concerns or questions about the upkeep of any cemetery you will need to contact the owner, the caretaker, or the municipality. Use Canada 411 or Google to find contact information.

🍁 How do I place / replace / repair / clean a headstone?
You will need to contact the cemetery or a monument company. Use Canada 411 or Google to find contact information.

🍁 A loved one just passed and I need assistance with their interment
You will need to contact the cemetery or a local funeral home. Use Canada 411 or Google to find contact information.

🍁 Do you have burials records for the cemetery?
If we do they will be provided on the cemetery page.

🍁 Is [name of person] buried in the cemetery?
If the name you seek is not in our index we cannot assist at this time. The project is a constant work in progress so please check again at a later date.

🍁 Can you check your records for [name of person]?
All the records we currently have are already on the website! Please check again at a later date.

Other organizations and websites also offer cemetery photos and/or transcripts. If these are known to us you will find a link on the cemetery page. If our website does not have the information you seek it is recommended that you try one of these other links.

🍁 How do I find the exact location where [name of person] is buried in the cemetery
If we have that information it will be included on the person page of the person in question. Otherwise, it’s an inquiry that should be directed to the cemetery caretaker.

🍁 I need more information about [name of person] buried in the cemetery
We do not have additional information on anyone buried in the cemetery. If you need research advice or assistance please use the information offered by CanadaGenWeb.

🍁 How do I correct information about someone buried in the cemetery?
Locate the person you wish to correct, and use the correction form found below their information.

🍁 How do I contact a volunteer / photographer?
We do not share contact information of our volunteers nor do we forward requests for contact. If a volunteer is available for requests their contact information will be provided on the cemetery page. Please be aware that many of our volunteers do not have personal connections to the cemeteries they photograph.

🍁 Could someone visit the cemetery for me and take a photo?
If a volunteer is available for requests their contact information will be provided on the cemetery page.

🍁 When will the cemetery be photographed or updated?
We do not assign cemeteries. Volunteers choose which cemeteries to photograph based on their location and/or their interest. This also means that previously photographed cemeteries may not be easily revisited, and obtaining updated or additional photos may not be possible.

We do not provide updates on which cemeteries may or may not be currently in progress as there is never a guarantee a volunteer may be able to complete their work.

We do announce when work is complete and available on the website and you can subscribe to be notified by email.

🍁 Can I use photos from this website?
See our photo permissions policy.

🍁 Can I add photos from this website to Find a Grave?
No. It is against both our policy and theirs. See our photo permissions policy.

How do I add a name or photos to the cemetery?
Return to the cemetery page and scroll down until you find the submission forms.

🍁 I have a question that isn’t here or on the general FAQ
If you’ve read all the information provided above, on the cemetery page, and on our general FAQ and still have a question, please use our contact form to ask your question.
