CanadaGenWeb’s Cemetery Map Project

We’re working to map every cemetery in Canada — and you can help.

If you live near a Canadian cemetery or can pinpoint its location on a map, we would appreciate your assistance.

Your contribution helps us build a complete and accurate map of cemeteries across Canada. Thank you for your help!

We prefer GPS coordinates in decimal format (for example: 49.678702, -112.828293), but we will also accept:

  • Other GPS formats (we can convert them)
  • Street addresses
  • Detailed written directions

Any location details you provide will help improve the accuracy of our records.

To submit a cemetery location:

  1. Locate the cemetery in our online directory
  2. Use the “Correction Form” found on the right-hand sidebar
  3. Enter the best location information you have

🍁 Using the Cemetery Map

To view the map in full screen, click the [ ] icon in the top right corner of the map below (see example).

To search the map:

  1. Open the full screen version of the map.
  2. Click the magnifying glass icon to open the search bar (see example).

On the search screen, you can look up:

  • A cemetery name (even a partial name)
  • A town or city
  • A street or full address

You can then move around the map to explore all mapped cemeteries in that area (see example).

Clicking on a red, yellow, green, or grey icon will display information about that specific cemetery, including a link to the cemetery’s page in our project. If the cemetery has been photographed, you’ll also find the names index on that page.

Cemeteries on the map are marked with one of four icons:

The cemetery was fully photographed at the time of submission
The cemetery was partially photographed
Few or no photos have been submitted
The cemetery no longer exists
