Murray Pletsch, with his Canadian Gravemarker Gallery, was a pioneer of making Canadian cemetery photos freely available on the internet. He started with the North-Eastern Ontario Gravemarker Gallery and later expanded to include all of Canada. He was welcoming and supportive when CanadaGenWeb’s Cemetery Project debuted in 2004.

Murray now wishes to announce his impending retirement, and we are proud that he has chosen us to preserve his history by incorporating the photographs he displayed on his website into our project.

Over the next few months, as the photographs are indexed, they will make their debut on this website as part of our regular updates. (Volunteers are needed to help index to make this transition faster)

In the meantime, The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery will remain accessible until permanently closed on 31 July 2017. Please note that although the Gravemarker Gallery is online for visitors, it will not be updated to ensure both sites remain in sync during the huge transfer of photographs.
